EFL comes in two flavors, Classic and Unified.
Classic (Components-based) API | Unified (EO-based) API |
---|---|
The traditional EFL API which has been developed and used for over a decade. Composed of several interconnected libraries (Components). No more features are planned, only bug fixes. |
Redesigned API offering a more integrated, object-oriented feel thanks to EO. Automatic bindings for other languages thanks to Eolian descriptions. Parts of it are still in BETA stage but development is most active here. |
Both APIs are available when you install EFL and your application must choose which one to use. You cannot mix and match calls to both APIs.
We suggest you future-proof your application by switching to the Unified API as soon as all the features you need are available.
